At least 1-2 years experience working within a Data Center or a NOC in a technician or specialist role
Experience working in a mission critical/24/7 environment
Experience working with a network monitoring tool
Strong understanding of principles, practices, and administration of technical data center related issues
Experience working on physical data center hardware like: HP, Sun, Cisco, etc
Experience using a ticketing system
Experience connecting ports, power, physical server rack and stacks and rack space to data center facilities including power, space, HVAC, etc.
Commitment to customer service excellence and teamwork
Excellent communication and listening skills
Time management skills
Strong attention to detail
Must be reliable
Bachelor's degree in Computer Technology, Engineering Technology, or related technical field preferred
Experience troubleshooting hardware, power, electrical or HVAC issues
Knowledge of voltage control protocols a plus
Familiarity with Mainframe or Windows technologies
Understanding of Network Topology, Data Cabling Basics and video projection systems
Internal server hardware and maintenance
Physical and cyber / software security standards
Description of Role/Responsibilities:
Are you a Data Center Professional looking for an eager data center professional who is reliable and willing to work 7pm to 7am, 4 days a week and every other weekend. The off weeks from their weekend shift this person will get an extra day off. Overtime hours are available with this role too. If this person performs well on this contract there is a strong chance not only of extension but to be hired on full time with a Fortune 100 company with outstanding benefits!! This person will work within an enterprise data center performing physical server installatios pulling cable, installation of new server racks, rack and stack servers and other network hardware tasks. This person will also assist in the documentation and compliance with policies and procedures concerning the Data Centers, installing hardware, perform minor electrical connections, and ensure acceptable levels of HVAC for equipment in the data center. These resources will also be responsible for documenting any adds, moves, or changes to the current Data Center Infrastructure and work with project managers to perform assigned project related tasks. These resources should also be able to assist in the development and maintenance of low voltage and other related infrastructure and monitoring control systems as well as ensure rack servers, network, security and other devices within data centers, adhere to standards, and assist in the development and updating of those standards. A large portion of this person's time will be spent monitoring servers during off hours. The Data Center Technicians will also assist in server cable installation, document power, space, and HVAC utilization.
