The AR Generalist will handle standard accounting clerical duties in the accounts receivable department. This role involves managing Medicaid admissions, appeals, and various other accounting tasks. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, a self-starter, and possess excellent customer service skills.

Essential Job Functions/Responsibilities:

  • Payables Entry: Accurately enter payables for facilities into the accounting system.
  • Claims Processing: Process authorizations for Medicaid, private payer, and patient claims in compliance with payer requirements and organizational policies.
  • Billing Preparation: Assist in preparing monthly billing and accounts receivable reports.
  • Insurance Verification: Verify insurance benefits and effective dates for current and past patients.
  • Billing Analysis: Maintain accurate medical insurance billing analysis reports.
  • Record Maintenance: Keep complete and accurate billing and accounts receivable records.
  • Remittance Preparation: Prepare Medicare, Medicaid, private payer, and patient remittances for data entry.
  • Document Management: Alert management to late or missing documents required for billing.
  • Receivables Collection: Assist with the collection of receivables by monitoring accounts, resubmitting bills to overdue accounts, and notifying managers of seriously overdue accounts.
  • Relationship Management: Establish and maintain positive working relationships with team members, payers, and facilities.
  • Reporting: Coordinate reports and additional information for accounting management in a timely manner.

Qualifications:

  • Experience: At least one (1) year of experience in healthcare data entry, preferably in hospice care systems.
  • Education: AS, AA, or BA in accounting preferred.
  • Skills: Proficiency in Excel, strong work ethic, detail-oriented, and reliable.
  • Additional Attributes: Ability to develop and maintain relationships with external vendors; flexible and self-motivated.
