Position Overview: The Voice Architect is responsible for the day-to-day operations of a large-scale voice network. This includes managing the performance of data center-hosted applications, advanced contact centers, and thousands of voice terminals spread across multiple locations. The role focuses on both the supervision and support of team members, as well as collaborating with other IT departments. The individual will ensure the voice network systems are efficiently supported and that upcoming projects and system upgrades are aligned with business goals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee daily operations and support for a multi-site VoIP network.
- Supervise and develop staff, ensuring best practices in support processes and the use of software tools.
- Collaborate with other IT departments to ensure voice systems integrate smoothly with other technologies.
- Support voice and data environments across multiple locations, using tools like SolarWinds, Oasis, Comview, and others for performance optimization and capacity planning.
- Manage the design, implementation, and support of advanced voice-related systems.
- Ensure business requirements are accurately translated into technical solutions.
- Engage in problem-solving for complex issues related to communications infrastructure.
- Communicate effectively with leaders, users, and technical colleagues, providing updates on system performance and improvements.
- Manage multiple projects and ensure timely delivery under deadline pressure.
Skills and Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience working with voice teams and solutions.
- Proven experience with complex multi-site VoIP networks and multi-vendor environments (e.g., Siemens, Cisco, Avaya).
- Strong familiarity with wireless communication technologies like Spectralink or ASCOM.
- Experience with voice mail and unified messaging systems, preferably with Unify Xpressions.
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, and conflict management skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and work independently when needed.
- ITIL certification is required; additional certifications in voice technologies are preferred.
Education and Certifications:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, Management, or a related field, or equivalent experience in voice network management.
- Certifications in ITIL and voice technologies are strongly preferred.
This role requires someone who is self-directed, adaptable to change, and able to balance multiple projects while maintaining excellent communication with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
