Beacon Hill is seeking a Buyer who is seeking to kick off their Category Management career. The Buyer is responsible for all procurement activities related to the assigned purchases. Responsibilities include buying of approved Goods & Services and sourcing of spot buys, for assigned locations, ensuring the company operational needs are met considering price, quality, and delivery and to ensure continuity of supply. Additional duties may include inventory management for spare parts and manufacturing supplies. The responsibility level and time commitment to various tasks may vary by plant, and business unit.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Sourcing, negotiating and approval of award for spot buy of non-stock items for facility requirements, including utilization and support of corporate programs and initiatives where applicable
* Providing information to internal customers for pricing proposals. Resolves specification issues prior to quoting process.
* Achievement of strategic cost savings goals and delivery of lowest cost alternatives for products and services to meet business demands.
* Manage inventory by reviewing requirements, entering purchase orders, and changing purchase orders as required; determines the need for expediting, follows up on late orders and monitors delivery performance taking corrective action as needed
* Effectively communicate to the purchasing management team and other appropriate functional areas key insights (price levels, contract durations, On time delivery issues, quantity issues, etc.)
* Perform Match/Hold, Un-invoiced receipts, and other pertinent financial reports, review and analysis
* Resolve accounting discrepancies and process supplier returns/rejections
* Maintain systems of record, Oracle, 4th Shift, ERP & etc
* Represent Purchasing in applicable meetings, projects and presentations
* Responsible for reviewing and submitting auto-generated purchase orders and buy messages for the purchase of goods, materials, components, or services in line with specified cost, quality, and delivery targets
* Monitor and advise on any issues which present risk or opportunity to the organization
* Be responsible for the timely review of order confirmations from vendors, update correct lead times in the system, and relay price corrections as needed to the Commodity Management team
* Effectively manage supplier performance to meet delivery and quality objectives
* Prepare reports and updates as and when required
* Be expediting orders on critical materials and parts
* Be responsible for all purchasing/planning for assigned production lines.
* Placing purchase orders for a variety of commodities, materials and supplies
* Expediting orders on critical materials and parts.
* Initiating cost reduction activities.
* Be proficient with Microsoft products.
* Maintain and promote a strong safety culture and follow all safety policies, procedures and regulations. Identify and communicate workplace hazards and correct or seek assistance in correcting unsafe actions or conditions.
KEY SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES:
* Working knowledge of assigned items.
* Strong communication skills (both written and verbal). Professional phone and email etiquette is a must.
* Strong interpersonal skills to work with team members, customers, and suppliers
* Self-motivated and possesses the ability to complete tasks on-time and with little supervision.
* General negotiation skills
* Must possess excellent organizational and prioritization skills
* Intermediate analytical and mathematical skills
* Working knowledge and experience of Microsoft Excel, Word and ERP purchasing systems.
* Intermediate Knowledge and application of purchasing cost reduction methods
* Material requirements planning (MRP) system proficiency
* Working knowledge of purchasing terminology and practices
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
* High School Diploma or equivalent required
* Bachelor's Degree in business, Supply Chain, Logistics, Quantitative Fields, relevant field, or equivalent work experience required.
* 3+ years buyer work experience in manufacturing environment preferred.
* Strategic Procurement experience is preferred.
* MRP and JIT experience is required
