Law firm with offices in Florida and New York, seeks a Litigation Paralegal to join their new Miami office. This is a direct-hire/perm role and firm is offering competitive pay and benefits.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct initial pursuit investigation, legal research and initial case assessments
  • Assist in drafting pleadings, motions and appellate documents and file them with the court
  • Answering telephone calls to the office, and client contact to give status on case and to give/get updates
  • Perform administrative duties (calendar hearings and deadlines, organize case files, manage logistics, docketing of deadlines and reminders etc)
  • Scheduling of depositions, pre deposition conferences, hearings, court reporters, conferences with clients and counsel
  • Check judges calendars and policies and procedures for each case when scheduling
  • Efiling pleadings and motions in Circuit and Federal Court
  • Maintain pleadings and discovery indexes
  • Organize exhibits, documents, evidence, briefs and appendices
  • Assisting with interrogatories and other discovery requests
  • Doing intakes on new cases and circulating email to attorneys, preparing retainer, initial client documents and opening new file on internal software
  • Review of document production for hot and important documents
  • Liaise between trial teams and internal/external third parties
  • Help with and prepare for witnesses preparation at depositions, evidentiary hearing and trial
  • Provide assistance with case settlements
  • Mail and federal express

Skills

  • Proven working experience as a litigation paralegal
  • Applicable knowledge of motions, discovery, evidence, litigation documentation, court rules and procedures, practices etc
  • Highly organized with ability to juggle multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong writing and communication skills along with attention to detail
  • Extensive computer and database expertise
  • Paralegal associates degree or other relevant certification
