QC Reference Technologist

Responsibilities:

  • Adhere to established protocols and regulations set forth by the Department of Health while performing clinical laboratory procedures, examinations, and other necessary tests.
  • Maintain accurate records and ensure the proper functioning of laboratory equipment.
  • Conduct quality assurance activities to uphold the reliability and accuracy of examination results.

Key Duties:

  • Perform timely testing of products, patients, and donors to facilitate the distribution of components as required.
  • Conduct daily quality control checks on hematology analyzers, troubleshoot issues, and notify management when necessary.
  • Perform pre and post-testing on specimens collected from various sites, accurately recording all results and promptly communicating any abnormalities.
  • Conduct titer testing as needed and ensure the proper maintenance of departmental equipment.
  • Perform monthly quality control checks on blood components and maintain compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct required quality control checks on BacT equipment and provide daily reports.
  • Prepare and inoculate single donor platelet samples for bacterial detection testing using sterile techniques, and conduct bacterial detection testing on cellular therapy products.
  • Test units to qualify them for the Pathogen Reduction process.
  • Maintain a safe and clean working environment, adhering to all relevant procedures, practices, SOPs, regulations, and guidelines.
  • Process patient samples accurately in response to hospital orders, including platelet antibody screening and cross-matching when necessary.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Science or a related field.
  • Certification as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist (CLS) preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and adherence to protocols and regulations.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot equipment issues.
  • Effective communication skills for collaborating with colleagues and reporting abnormalities.
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
