Beacon Hill Staffing is looking for a Test Lab Technician to support our manufacturing client in the Huntersville area.
Job Summary
The Test Lab Technician will be responsible for evaluation and performance testing of components and products throughout the product development process. Collaborating with the cross-functional product development teams, the Test Lab Technician performs testing and documents test findings in support of new product development, productivity, quality, and marketing initiatives along with Agency requirements.
Duties and Responsibilities
Follows standard test procedures and maintains controlled document
Interprets manufacturing drawings, diagrams, and specifications in support of physical, visual and performance inspections, evaluations and tests
Sets up test equipment necessary to conduct procedures
Conducts both manual and automated tests using defined test procedures, captures test data, and reports test progress
Uses electrical test equipment to characterize product performance (power analyzers, various transducers, multimeters, electrical strength testers, current leakage testers, power supplies)
Compiles, analyzes, interprets, and document test results from physical and analytical testing in a written test report summary using Excel
Maintains records of product evaluations. Maintains samples and sample identification for test products and components
Clearly conveys testing issues in a timely manner
Works with Test Engineers to help build test fixtures, while providing design input
Maintains an active role in the lab's safety program and supports all lab safety initiatives
Able to lift 50 lbs. and stand and work for extended periods of time
Preferred Qualifications
Associate Degree in a technical discipline or 2+ years applicable experience
Experience interpreting and performing agency testing (UL, IEC, ASTM, etc.)
Experience in working with electro-mechanical and pneumatic components
Understands basic principles of electricity (DC and AC) and has experience using electrical test equipment (multimeters, power analyzers, power supplies)
Ability to work independently in fast-paced environment with time-sensitive tasks
Possesses good communication skills (written and verbal)
Proficient in the use of hand tools and measuring instruments (force gages, calipers, micrometers, etc.)
Displays a clear understanding of measurement units, measurement systems and unit conversion
Proficient with MS Office, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
CAD experience a plus (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Creo)
Prototyping experience a plus (3D printing, machine shop)
Experience with the use of automated measurement/test equipment (i.e. Instron, CMM, Particle Size Analyzer, Viscometer) a plus
PLC/LabVIEW/microcontroller programming knowledge a plus
Experience as an active member of a safety program
$20-25/ per hour
