A national law firm is seeking a Benefits and Wellness Specialist for their Fort Lauderdale office. The Benefits and Wellness Specialist will assist and provide support to the HR Director to help coordinate and administer the Firm's benefits and wellness program. Additionally, this position will be responsible for responding to inquiries for information. Applicants should have one to three years of experience in Benefits and Wellness and Knowledge of all pertinent federal and state regulations, filing and compliance requirements affecting employee benefit programs, including ERISA, COBRA, FMLA, ADA, and Section 125. HRIS experience is preferred but not required.

Your Benefits and Wellness Specialist Duties and Responsibilities:

Benefit Administration

  • Assist in the administration and execution of the firm's benefit programs such as medical, dental, vision, life insurance, disability, HSA, FSA and 401(k).
  • Answer employee questions and function as liaison between employees and benefit carriers and advises employees on eligibility, coverage and other benefit matters.
  • Process new-hire benefit enrollments, life changes as well as maintain and update employee records and benefits files in the HRIS.
  • Report employee terminations to the COBRA Administrator in a timely manner to ensure that COBRA notifications are sent out on time.
  • Participate and assist with the annual Open Enrollment process.
  • Reconcile benefit billings on a monthly basis to ensure appropriate payment for charges billed.
  • Advise and inform employees of the details of the company's benefit programs.
  • Resolve benefit-related issues and respond to queries and requests in a timely manner.
  • Effectively interprets FMLA and ADA implications as they relate to leaves of absences/disabilities.
  • Collaborate with payroll and ensure that employer contributions and payroll deductions are processed accurately and in a timely manner in HRIS system.
  • Assists and provides back up support to the Benefits and Wellness Specialist with New Hire Benefits Orientation for all non-attorney staff members.
  • Maintain benefit files and records, assuring accuracy, compliance, and confidentiality.
  • Assist the benefits team with other projects as needed.

Wellness Administration

  • Assist the Benefits and Wellness Specialist with the planning of wellness events and activities for the Firm including, but not limited to challenges and wellness education seminars.
  • Assist the Benefits and Wellness Specialist with the development of an effective internal marketing strategy to maximize participation.
  • Monitor and track program participation.
  • Collaborate with Benefits and Wellness Specialist to ensure/incentivize team member engagement and ownership in preventative care and healthy lifestyle choices.
  • Serve as health resource on available health and wellness benefits available to employees.
  • Attend and facilitate Wellness events.
  • Responsible for gathering and compiling data for various wellness activities for further analysis.
  • Prepare reports and other documents as necessary for the wellness program.
  • Stay current on changing Federal and State regulations and legislation that pertains to government agencies and affects employee benefits like healthcare and wellness.
  • Work closely with the Benefits and Wellness Specialist to facilitate understanding and knowledge of the wellness program as well as build enthusiasm and participation.
  • Provide ongoing support for wellness events and programs.
