Job Description:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Property Accountant to join our accounting team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the financial management of a portfolio of properties, ensuring accuracy and compliance with relevant laws and regulations. The Property Accountant will also work closely with other team members, property managers, and clients to maintain financial records and prepare reports.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor and manage all financial operations within the property portfolio, including budgeting, forecasting, and cash management.
- Prepare and deliver timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Coordinate and complete annual audits for properties in the portfolio.
- Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and company policies.
- Collaborate with property managers to analyze and report on property performance.
- Reconcile bank statements, prepare and post journal entries, and manage accounts payable and receivable.
- Review and analyze financial data and prepare financial reports and statements.
- Prepare tax returns and other statutory reports.
- Conduct regular ledger maintenance and balance sheet reconciliation.
- Assist with the budgeting process and conduct budget variance analysis.
- Assist with due diligence efforts on acquisitions.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- A minimum of 2 years of accounting experience.
- CPA or CMA certification preferred but not required.
- Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, with advanced skills in Excel.
- Experience with property management software, such as Yardi, MRI, or similar but not required.
- Excellent analytical skills with attention to detail.
- Strong time management and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
