Position Overview:

The Sales Tax Analyst is responsible for managing and executing all aspects of sales tax compliance and research within our organization. This role involves ensuring the accurate calculation, reporting, and filing of sales tax across various jurisdictions, staying updated on tax laws and regulations, and assisting with tax audits. The Sales Tax Analyst plays a key role in minimizing tax liability through informed application of tax laws and regulations, and effective tax planning.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and file timely and accurate sales tax returns in multiple jurisdictions.
  • Review and reconcile sales tax accounts and ensure accurate general ledger entries.
  • Analyze and interpret sales data to calculate tax owed and ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Stay informed of changes in tax laws and regulations and assess their impact on the company's operations and tax compliance.
  • Collaborate with internal departments, such as finance and legal, to understand business practices and identify tax-related issues.
  • Assist in managing and responding to sales tax audits, including gathering and preparing necessary documents and data.
  • Research tax issues and provide guidance and recommendations on tax matters to internal stakeholders.
  • Develop and implement tax compliance policies and procedures to streamline processes and ensure accuracy.
  • Provide training and support to other staff members on sales tax issues and processes.
  • Work with external tax advisors and consultants as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or advanced degree in taxation is a plus.
  • 2-4 years of experience in sales tax, tax compliance, or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of sales tax laws and regulations.
  • Proficiency in tax software and Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Capacity to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
