Position Summary:
The Controller will lead our financial reporting, accounting, and control activities, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with industry regulations and accounting standards. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of the fintech landscape, thrive in a fast-paced environment, and bring a proactive mindset to the team.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Oversee all accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger functions.
2. Ensure timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting in compliance with GAAP.
3. Coordinate and direct the preparation of budget and financial forecasts; report variances.
4. Maintain a system of internal controls to safeguard the company's assets and ensure accurate financial reporting.
5. Lead the coordination and completion of annual audits; liaise with external auditors and address any issues or discrepancies.
6. Remain up-to-date on regulatory changes within the fintech sector and implement necessary changes to maintain compliance.
7. Oversee tax filings, ensuring accurate and timely submissions.
8. Manage and mentor the accounting team, fostering an environment of continuous learning and improvement.
9. Assist the CFO in financial strategy development and execution.
10. Analyze financial data and report on financial performance, offering insights and recommendations for improvements.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA designation preferred.
- Minimum of 7 years of professional accounting experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
- Experience in the fintech industry or with tech startups is a plus.
- Solid knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting.
- Familiarity with fintech-specific regulations and compliance requirements.
- Proficient in accounting software and tools; experience with [specific fintech software/tools] is an advantage.
- Strong analytical, communication, and leadership skills.
- High level of integrity, attention to detail, and a proactive mindset.
