Retail client in Philadelphia looking for a Payroll Specialist to join their team. This individual will manage the full-cycle payroll process for this company. Client has long standing presence in Brick & Mortar retail space and takes pride in their positive work-place culture and customer service efforts.
Associate's or Bachelor's degree required. Playocity experience a plus.
- Process and issue employee pay checks and statements of earnings and deductions.
- Compute wages and deductions and enter data into payroll software system.
- Compile employee time and payroll data from time sheets and other records.
- Review time sheets, wage computations, and other information to detect and reconcile payroll discrepancies.
- Validate new hire data properly uploaded from HRIS system into the payroll system.
- Verify attendance, hours worked, and pay adjustments, and post information onto designated records.
- Record employee information, such as exemptions, transfers, and resignations, to maintain and update payroll records.
- Issue and record adjustments to pay related previous errors or retractive increases.
- Provide information to employees and managers on payroll matters, tax issues, and collective agreement provisions.
- Process funding for 401K, HSA, and Flex plans.
- Record payroll journal entries to the general ledger.
- Process invoices for all benefit related fund transfers and payment in ERP.
- General ledger account reconciliation and analysis.
- Keep informed about changes in tax and deduction laws that apply to the payroll process.
- Complete, verify, and process forms and documentation for administration of benefits, such as pension plans, and unemployment and medical insurance.
- Complete all state level applications for withholding and unemployment accounts.
- Reconcile quarterly and annual payroll tax filings.
- Respond to local, state, and federal inquiries, garnishments, and verification including but not limited to unemployment filings.
- Prepare year end W2 and ACA form reconciliations.
- Maintain all spreadsheets to support payroll.
- Generate, review, and distribute management reports, as requested.
- Assist with other accounting related duties as assigned.
- Maintains high ethical standard regarding work requirements and strict confidentiality of company and employee information
