Position Overview:
The Investment Accounting Manager will oversee the accounting operations related to our company's investment portfolio. This pivotal role involves managing a team responsible for the accounting, reporting, and compliance of various investment assets. The manager will ensure accuracy and adherence to both statutory and GAAP standards, along with developing strategies to optimize the financial performance of the investment portfolio.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the investment accounting team, setting objectives and managing performance to ensure high-quality financial reporting.
- Oversee the preparation and analysis of financial statements for investment accounts, ensuring compliance with statutory and GAAP requirements.
- Direct the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing processes for investment portfolios, including consolidations and reporting.
- Collaborate closely with investment managers and analysts to understand investment strategies and their financial implications.
- Develop and implement policies and procedures for investment accounting to enhance efficiency and internal controls.
- Coordinate with external auditors and provide support during audits and examinations.
- Maintain a thorough understanding of investment market trends and regulatory changes affecting investment accounting.
- Provide expert guidance on accounting treatment for various types of investments, including equities, fixed income, derivatives, and alternative investments.
- Manage and resolve complex accounting issues related to investment transactions.
- Lead projects to improve investment accounting processes and systems.
- Mentor and develop staff, including training and career development.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or similar certification strongly preferred.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in accounting, with a significant focus on investment or fund accounting.
- Proven experience in managing an accounting team.
- In-depth knowledge of investment accounting principles, financial instruments, and market practices.
- Strong leadership skills and the ability to inspire and develop a team.
- Excellent analytical, strategic thinking, and problem-solving skills.
- High proficiency in financial reporting software and Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, capable of engaging effectively with various stakeholders.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
