Position Overview:

The Tax Manager is a crucial role within the finance department, overseeing the company's tax planning, compliance, and strategy. This includes managing tax reporting in compliance with local, state, and federal tax laws and leading a team of tax professionals. The Tax Manager collaborates closely with senior management to align tax strategies with business goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage tax reporting, compliance, and planning, ensuring accuracy and adherence to laws and regulations.
  • Oversee the preparation and filing of corporate tax returns, sales tax, and other business-related tax documents.
  • Develop and implement tax planning strategies to minimize liability and ensure compliance.
  • Stay updated on tax legislation changes and advise on the impact of new laws.
  • Handle interactions with external auditors and tax authorities during audits and inquiries.
  • Manage and develop the tax team, establishing objectives and assessing performance.
  • Collaborate with other departments for accurate financial reporting and appropriate tax treatment.
  • Conduct research on complex tax issues and provide guidance to management.
  • Prepare tax forecasts and budgets, and address any variances.
  • Provide tax expertise for mergers, acquisitions, and business transactions.
  • Ensure compliance with ASC 740 (Accounting for Income Taxes), including the analysis and documentation of the company's tax positions, effective tax rate reconciliation, and reporting and disclosure requirements.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or Master's in Taxation preferred.
  • Minimum of 7 years of tax experience, with at least 3 years in a managerial role.
  • Extensive knowledge of tax code, compliance, and procedures for corporations, including expertise in ASC 740.
  • Proven leadership and team management skills.
  • Strong analytical, strategic, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficiency in tax software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
