Accounting Manager

National Real Estate and Investment company is looking for an Accounting Manager to join their team and work out of their headquarters in King of Prussia, PA. This company has estbalished themselves within the Real Estate space with 90,000+ unites across nearly 20 states.
The ideal individual for this role will have experience within the Real Estate space, and have had past experience supervising a team and providing mentorship.
Overview:
Summary: The Accounting Manager will delegate, supervise and participate in the daily operations of the accounting department, including oversee the recording, tracking, and reporting of financial information. This person will be responsible for training and motivating accounting staff members. They will assist in the implementation of department processes and procedures and ensure the department operates efficiently.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Leads and directs the work of others including direct supervision of a group of Senior Accountants
Oversee and manage the general accounting functions, including the month end close checklist, preparation of journal entries and general ledger analysis including various account reconciliations.
Manage the monthly, quarterly and year-end financial close process and ensure established close deadlines are met.
Prepare, review, and analyze financial statements to ensure accuracy and completeness, investigate variances and provide guidance for corrective action
Ensure financial reporting processes, procedures and reported results are in compliance where applicable with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS)
Assist with the implementation of accounting standard updates, as applicable
Assess current practices and procedures, and make recommendations for improvements
Assist with year-end audit requirements including preparation of GAAP and IFRS financial statements, related footnote disclosures and other supporting information requests.
Assist with due diligence and other analysis as it relates to real estate acquisition and disposition transactions.
Develop staff by managing performance, setting goals, providing ongoing training, and maintaining strong employee relationships
Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals
Assist with the recruitment and hiring process as needed
Assist with tax preparation as needed
Performs ad hoc analyses and projects as requested.
Supervisory Responsibilities
This position oversees Staff and Senior Accountants.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance;
Seven to ten years' accounting experience required; relatable industry experience preferred
Supervisory experience required;
CPA preferred, but not required
Solid knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
Proficiency in Microsoft Office; Yardi software experience preferred, but not required
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Strong organizational skills with proven ability to meet deadlines
