Staff Accountant
We are working with a non-profit orgnization who is seeking a Staff Accountant to join their team and play a crucial role in their integrated capital strategy. Core responsibilities include providing financial and administrative support, such as:
- Financial Accounting and Reporting
- Process and categorize accounts payable transactions.
- Code monthly PayPal and credit card transactions.
- Maintain and update accounting records and files.
- Prepare invoices for program fees and grants receivable, and follow up on outstanding receivables.
- Assist the Controller with annual budget planning, including coordinating with department managers and creating expense schedules.
- Aid the Controller in preparing board and finance committee reports.
- Portfolio Management
- Generate and distribute monthly portfolio statements and annual noteholder statements.
- Enter portfolio investment transactions into the loan servicing system and ensure timely updates to loan terms.
- Ensure accurate recording of all portfolio transactions in the general ledger
- Prepare and distribute monthly statements for portfolio companies and process monthly portfolio payments.
- Investor Management
- Generate and distribute annual noteholder statements and serve as an additional contact for noteholder inquiries.
- Audit, Payroll, and Compliance
- Assist the Controller with the annual audit by preparing schedules and reconciliations, managing confirmations and document requests, and responding to auditor inquiries as directed.
- Manage insurance policies and renewals in collaboration with the Controller and CEO.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
- 2+ years of relevant accounting experience, preferably within a nonprofit, CDFI, or investment firm environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks Desktop, BILL, Nortridge) is a plus!
