Our client, a consulting firm in Boston is looking for their Leave of Absence Specialist! The Leave of Absence Specialist will work collaboratively with the Benefits team and will be responsible for managing the leave of absence program for all company's employees. This position plays an important role in supporting employees, maintaining benefits programs, and developing relationships with third party vendors.
Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities:
- Administer the end-to-end leave of absence program with a focus on the employee experience, policy, legal compliance, vendor selection and management.
- Drive timely notification, documentation, eligibility review, benefit coordination, and payroll adjustments.
- Research and resolve LOA claim issues to ensure a positive employee experience while always maintaining confidentiality.
- Collaborate with broader Benefits Team to review processes, documents, tools, vendor performance and workflows to ensure data quality, process effectiveness, and compliance with program and regulatory requirements.
- Review and analyze changes to state and federal laws related to benefits and reports/recommend changes to administration.
- Ensure that development and implementation of benefits programs, policies, and practices comply with ERISA, COBRA, FMLA, HIPAA, ACA, ADA, Paid Family Leave, and other applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
- Maintain accurate tracking of current leaves to provide up to date reporting to broader HR team on Leave cases and benefit changes.
- Participate in annual pay-planning process related to leave of absence data and recordkeeping.
- Develop and maintain third-party relationships for LOA and disability program vendors including consultants/brokers and carriers.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree required. Concentration in business management or human resource management preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years substantive relevant experience required.
- Prior experience in a professional services industry preferred.
- Understanding of FMLA, ADA and all applicable requirements, regulations, and federal and multi-state laws relating to leaves of absence preferred.
- Experience with administration of benefits programs in multiple states and internationally preferred.
- The ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
- Knowledge of best practices and processing requirements relating to leave management.
- Ability to effectively articulate leave of absence options to a wide range of audiences.
