We are seeking an innovative, collaborative, and enthusiastic Senior Research Associate to be a part of the Systems Immunology research team. The Systems Immunology team is pre-clinically focused, aiming to harness our understanding of immune responses to discover and design targets for immune-oriented prophylactics and therapeutics. Collaborating within the team and other research teams, you will work in a dynamic, collaborative, and multidisciplinary environment consisting of computational biologists, immunologists, proteomics scientists, and structural biologists to identify, design and validate targets for infectious disease vaccines. This role offers the opportunity to develop and deploy a wide array of immunoassays to directly contribute to both pre-clinical design and functional evaluation of vaccines, aiming to address unmet medical need caused by infectious pathogens including malaria and monkeypox virus.

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Develop and perform immunological assays, including ELISAs, ELISpots, flow cytometry, fluorescence activated cell sorting, and antibody effector function measures.
  • Conduct fundamental virological assays, especially propagation and titration of BSL-2 viruses.
  • Collaborate and communicate experimental progress with both internal research teams and external groups to advance team projects.
  • Maintain a high standard of record keeping and experimentation, including assay and instrument troubleshooting.
  • Work productively in a team environment and independently to deliver against timelines.

Requirements:

  • BS/MS in Immunology or related field with in-depth knowledge of immunology and immune-related assays.
  • Minimum of 1-3+ years of relevant research experience in academic or industry setting.
  • Experience in working with viruses and antibodies is highly desired.
  • Demonstrated experience in ELISAs, ELISpots, multi-color flow cytometry and fluorescence activated cell sorting is highly desired.
  • Experience in biochemistry, especially protein purification, would be an asset.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to work cross-functionally.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
