Description

Media & Communications Design is responsible for the design and production of presentation materials and multimedia assets that document, communicate, and promote Walt Disney Imagineering Research & Development's (WDI R&D) vision and projects to a variety of internal and external audiences. A strong, well-rounded communicator with demonstrated visual design, written, and verbal presentation skills, this individual works across WDI R&D's project teams, leaders, and groups - including Disney Research, Advanced Development, and the WDI Technology Studio. This role distills complex projects and concepts into presentations, live events, graphical assets, and audio/video media that accurately and compellingly articulate project goals and encourage the adoption of new and innovative ideas across the Company.

Must haves
1) Years of experience: 7+ years' experience
2) Strong graphic design and storytelling skills to help build pitch decks.
3)Ideal to have technology and entertainment

Overview of position:
-AI Studio creating stories
-Sharing with people technology and advising how we use creative experiences.
-Will need to see portfolios to identify if they match the aesthetic and style
-Important to have a good fit within department

Responsibilities

Create presentations that tell the story of R&D and its projects to a variety of audiences - including template design, copywriting, graphical design, infographics/data visualizations, photography, videos, etc. * Work with project leads and senior leadership to distill complex projects, innovative technologies, and new concepts into simple, clear messaging that achieves the intended goal for the specific target audience * Oversee the documentation of R&D projects including audio/video, photography, copywriting, and document collection - occasionally coordinating third-party photographers and film crews * Manage the storage, tracking, backup, and distribution of R&D media assets for all current and past projects - including project metadata, watermarking, legal clearances, etc. * Develop and support R&D's central messaging and event calendar, including internal and external publicity events, in direct coordination with R&D Operations Manager Communications teams * As needed, present project pitches, technical demonstrations, and facility tours to a variety of internal and external groups, including high-level executives and other VIPs Qualifications

Qualifications

Degree or formal training in Digital Media, Graphic Design, Media Production, Communications, or similar * Demonstrated mastery of professional media design tools (Apple Keynote, Final Cut Pro, Microsoft PowerPoint, Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere, After Effects, SketchUp) * Minimum two years experience as a graphics or presentation designer in a professional environment * A robust graphic design/presentation design portfolio with a clear track record distilling complex concepts into aesthetically-pleasing, easily understood visual materials for a given target audience * Strong presenter with excellent public speaking skills and professional writing ability * A broad, high-level understanding of technology and the ability to quickly learn new technical concepts well enough to present them to others * Demonstrated experience with DSLR photography, audio/video production, and post-production - including simple editing, on-screen graphics, compression, and watermarking * Ability to quickly turnaround high-quality design assets under tight timelines * Excellent time management skills with the ability to self-manage priorities amidst a dynamic and constantly changing innovation environment * Some live theater and technical theater (sound design, lighting design, scenic) experience preferred
